what is your preferred weapon for harvesting deer?
would you rather hunt them with a bow, rifle, crossbow,or muzzleloader shotgun, ect?
i know some states restrict what you can use to hunt deer but what would be your choice?

I really like that Indiana is allowing the use of centerfire rifles, even though it is only allowing rifles chambered for pistol calabers such as .357, .45 long colt, 44 mag, etc. I bought a marlin 1894 leaver action in 44 mag. Popped a nice 10 point last Tues. I have killed deer with everything but crossbow and pistol, but I prefer a centerfire rifle hands down, prefer leaver actions. Guess there is still a bit of cowboy blood running through this old body.

I love muzzleloaders, bows, shotguns, rifles, pistols. Guess our long bow season I lean toward bow but love my replica frontstuffers too. If Im freezer filling then my Winchester 12ga deer gun gets the nod. Rifles are prohibited here so I have limited experience deer hunting with them. Im a single shot nut though and collect them and lever actions.

Only takes one Sunshine! Most who try muzzleloaders love it. We hunt alot of small game with flintlock muskets/shotguns too.

.58 caliber in a new fangled inline would have to be custom made. I think they even quit making .54's? .58 in the Hawken pattern is a deer whomper. Buddy deer hunts exclusively with his .58 and uses mainly patched round balls.

what is your preferred weapon for harvesting deer? would you rather hunt them with a bow, rifle, crossbow,or muzzle-loader shotgun, ect? i know some states restrict what you can use to hunt deer but what would be your choice? I guess I first look at it as what is the most successful time in a given area and what weapon is open at that time. For instance the rut is in November generally around Thanksgiving. In Kansas and Iowa that is archery only. In Nebraska and Texas that is gun season. If I want to hunt Colorado for a big bull elk that is September archery & Muzzle-loader. This makes my trophy animals add up quicker because my success is so much higher. Also in the case of Nebraska in some areas you can shoot two bucks for less money it takes for 1 tag in Kansas or Iowa. Plus in Nebraska for each cheap $200 buck tag you can get two free doe tags, how do you beat this! I found all of this information and discounted prices on this web page where you can do a fully guided, semi-guided, Do it yourself hunt and so on. It has been great for me, not fancy but great priced and great trophy hunting. rcsoutdoorwritersinc.com/DiscountedHunts.aspx
