this is an elk a friend of Jerrys from Texas got in Wyoming last falll its not huge, but the guy was hunting for the meat for the freezer.

Sunshine, I'm assuming this elk was taken from over where Jerry is working on the ranch, that is about the typical size of the elk in that area, there are bigger ones but not as many as other parts of the state. That area has high elk numbers, and alot of them are bulls. Thats the same area I shot my first elk in when I was 14 years old. And like his friend most people shoot them for the meat and not the horns, they are good eatin!!!

Amen Gutpylz... I have taken 5 elk in the last 15 years and yes I live in Montana. Unless you can afford trespass fees of an outfitter, you have to get way back in the hills and then you have to have a way of getting them out....(Horses, backpack) Also if you run into an outfitters camp or area he will make it hard for you to get one...It helps immensely to be VERY lucky...

the guy inthis picture had recently been diagnosed with cancer right before this hunt. he didnt tell anyone till he was back home, ..he was very appreciatetive to have bagged him..ya'll remember him in your prayers..i dont know his name, only that he was from Texas.
