I love trout to eat and they're a blast to catch. We have flooded mine pits that they stock rainbows in not to far from my cabin. Pound for pound, they are real fighters!

Never have or cant remember ever eating trout fixed where I liked them? Everythings flooded here but those fishing are doing good. Mainly panfish then walleye out of teh bigger lakes and flooded rivers. It'll be awhile before I get out but the guys are getting the cabins ready in preperation for our bankpoling and trotlining. Lots of crappie from the local municipsl lakes too.

Fried, baked, cooked over campfires. Mainly Wyoming trout if that makes a difference.

We wrap our trout in foil sprinklered with lemon pepper and butter. Then bake it until it flakes. When you eat it, dip it in butter that has a shot of lemon in it.
This will seem crazy, but I don't like bass or crappie. I only eat trout, salmon, walleye, perch, or sunfish. Bass taste too fishy and crappie are too soft and mushy. I don't like their texture. When I accidently catch a crappie, people think I'm nuts when I throw it back.

I had this conversation several times today. Large mouth or black bass to me are tasteless without a breading and seasoning. I like grilled salmon but Ive never had a trout I liked. Ive never seen soft or mushy crappie. We put ours on ice and fillet them. Catfish(flatties are no.1), bullheads and scored buffalo and carp are my favorites with bluegill or sunfish right there with them. One of the best eating fish there is is Bowfin(dogfish) but they are such a pain to preserve we release most of ours. They have to be put on ice immediately and killed and dressed then cooked within about 30 minutes, but, when done right WOW. Gar balls are good too. White Perch(drum)are good if caught in cool water and not wormy or mushy.
