The Obama administration's moratorium on offshore drilling is depriviing the government of billions of dollars in royalties, lease bids, and taxes. This lost revenue will grow significantly if no new drilling leases in the Gulf are sold this year.
After the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon, the administration issued a moratorium on May 6. It suspended work on 33 wells in various stages of construction.
The US Energy Information Administration projects a decline of 240,000 barrels a day in oil production in the Gulf this year.
This year could be the first since 1965 in which the federal government didn't sell leases in the Gulf.
Oil companies pay the federal government an 18.75% royalty on the oil produced. In 2008, the offshore industry paid $8.3 billion in royalties, and another $9.4 billion for bids on new leases. Last year those leases brought in just $979 million. This lost money could go a long way toward deficit reduction.
At a time when voters are expecting the federal government to balance its budget, revenue from oil companies would be one way of helping out and the oil produced would reduce the price of gas at the pump.

In September Obama will say, "If I am re-elected I will balance the budget, and I will start by lifting the moratoriam on drilling in the Gulf." , and his sheep will either forget or ignore the fact that he was the one that imposed it and say what a wonderful man he is.
Kind of like thanking the guy that finally quits slapping you for stopping.

I read in the paper today that Obama's overall approval rating has shot up to just over 60%, the highest it's been since his election.
In contrast, after the first Gulf war, George Bush Sr's approval rating was nearly 80% with only a year before his re-election. But, because of his slow economic recovery, within a year his approval rating dropped drastically and he lost the presidency to Bill Clinton.
The American people are impatient and very fickle. Unless Obama makes some huge gains in some of the areas he's lacking, he will face the same fallout.

They attributed this popularity increase due to his role in the killing of bin Laden, of course.

LOL! I did a poll, and his approval rating was 00.0! I asked my wife, my son, my brother, my nephew and myself. I was going to ask a couple of friends, but I know they don't like him, and I didn't want to skew it like the liberals, I mean the mainstream media, do their polls.

The poll was done by Associated Press. Of course, it all depends on who was asked too as to the outcome.

Now he's made a fool of himself on Isreal and got put in his place today by their leader. Poll here there or where ever doesn't really matter, he's toast soon as election day comes! The silent majority will raise their voice then, same as they did last election that everyone seems to of forgotten about.
Bad part though is even after he leaves we're stuck with his shoddy choice's of judge's for the rest of our lives! That will be far more damaging to our country than anything else he's done.
