Michelle Bachmann has tied Mitt Romney in a republican poll for the presidential nomination.
Bachmann is a 3rd term House Rep from MN where I'm from. I will start by saying I really like her and all that she stands for. I have always supported and voted for her. However, to make Obama a one-term president the republican party needs to put their best candidate out there to run against him. That's not Bachmann.
I would be surprised if she got the nomination. But, if she did, I would bet she wouldn't carry her own state of MN, kind of like Al Gore didn't carry his own state of Tennessee when he ran against Bush.
Our local liberal newspaper was quick to point out that even though she has a few good ideas, her major downfall is the fact that she hasn't accomplished much during her 3 terms in the House.
According to recent polls I've seen, if the election were held today, Romney would beat Obama by a few percentage points, Bachmann would not. In fact, she would lose to him by more than 10 percentage points.
I'm not saying Romney is my choice, just that we need to get the best candidate we can if we are to beat Obama. This country can't survive another 4 years of such incompetence.
