In an article last week in People's Weekly World, the official newspaper of the Communist Party USA, Sam Webb, charman of the domestic and foreign policy of the party, threw the party's support behind Obama's re-election.
"Millions who have to be at the core of this party still operate under the umbrella of the democratic party, albeit increasingly in an independent fashion," Webb noted.
Webb said that for communists there are major differences between democrats and republicans.

Wasn't he (obama) affiliated with the communist party in his college years? Seems I read that somewhere, wouldn't surprise me if he's still a member, or at least sending them alot of funds.

I think all true liberals have communist leanings. They believe in spreading the wealth, taxing those who have to give to those who haven't. No man should have two cars until every man has one. and so forth.
I can see it's appeal in 3rd world countries. Imagine youself working in a rice paddy in the hot sun all day and the owner of the rice paddy drives by in his Mercedes. The capitalist tells you under his system if work hard and save your money you can own a rice paddy and drive around in a Mercedes. Then the communist comes by and tells you that under his system you will still be in the rice paddy, but the owner will be right next to you, which would be the most believable for someone that has spent their whole life working for just enough to eat?

Is the flat tax a cummunist idea? Never studied cummunism in college. I think the guy in the rice paddy and the guy in the mercedes should have the same tax percentage. No earned income tax credit for anyone.

Haus, I tend to agree with that 100%
Sure, Hawk and Huck will disagree. But why should they( the wealthy) have all the breaks and loopholes? Yeah right , they worked for it.
Most inherited it and those who didn't mostly came by it dishonestly or on the backs of others. I know it is the way "Free Enterprise and Capitolism" work and no I am not a Comunist nor am I for all out Socialism, but I am for equality of rights and the way we are treated under the law.

Hotwire, please show me one "loophole" that is available to the rich that isn't available to anyone else.
A "loophole" is simply a legal deduction.

A flat tax would result in the rich paying less than they do now since they already pay close to 60% of all taxes paid in the US. It would mean that many who pay no taxes now would be paying their fair share to make up the difference lost from the flat tax.
I totally agree with the no earned income tax credit also.

I do realize a flat tax would make the poor pay more, but that is only fair, in a equal society everyone pays the piper at an equal rate. I've never owned a corporation so I would not even know where to begin there. I have been self employed at different times in my life and a flat tax should still appl. I would say some deductions are abused and should be reviewed. Farm tags on a cadillac come to mind (they should make them carry hay and feed in it.
I would add that if we are going to pay a flat rate they should stop trying to screw us at every turn when we go to spend what we have left. Federal tax on cable TV, Cell Phones, Gallon of Gas, etc... should all end.

Actually , or at least in theory a flat tax should make taxes right across the board lower. At least here in Canada it would as the more you make the more they take. Under a certain level of income you pay nothing but as your income increases so does the percentage of tax on your earnings. When I was earning 60k I was paying 28% income tax. As for the loopholes it is not that there are any more just that the more money you have the more loopholes you can take advantage of and that is the case here as well.

I favor a national sales tax. Be taxed on what you spend, not on what you make. It's about time the drug dealers, thieves, hookers, and people that work under the table started paying their share.

If as your income increases, so should your percentage of payable tax increase is not a flat tax. I believe we should keep the Bush tax cuts in place, but take away all these government subsidies to large corporations instead. Rescinding the Bush tax cuts will result in a tax increase for everyone who pays taxes, not just the rich.

I want a FLAT TAX as much or more then anyone. It is the ONLY fair tax we can have. I have read and listened to several that say if we went to a flat tax of a certain % as individuals and a slightly higher tax for those comps. making over a million a year. the national debt would be PAID off in as little as 5 years. I can't say for sure what % it was but I am thinking 7-8% for 4-5 years then it would go down from there. The % for the larger comps. was 13-15 if I recall right. It also would go down after the same 4-5 years.
What a flat tax could do for this country is so simple...yet the 545 in power can't see it for the life of the rest of us.
As far as income tax versus sales tax,....all you have to do is look at the states and thier taxes. Those without any income tax or the lowest state taxes are the states in the black. Now why the feds can't see that is beyond me.

Oregon doesn't have a sales tax, but we have an income tax that really hurts the working man. When I worked in the lumber mill I started refusing over time because I saw very little, if any, of it on my pay check.
Aren't yopu self employed, Huck. Then a flat tax or income tax would be more appealing to you than a sales tax.

A flat tax is appealing to me because it is the best way to tax. It is fair, and not enough to hurt anyone really. It would do so much more than just create the funds neccassary. Such as stop all the bickering about who pays and who don't. Simple as the nose on your face really.
Yes, if written in and applied properly from the get go, the % would drop when it should. I don't see it dropping much, maybe 1-2 % and evening out there.
I read a china man who said that if the U.S. ever did this. They would be without a doubt the strongest and richest nation in the world. When asked why China don't do it, he said that because they are a communist type nation they could never get thier political leaders to do so. I laughed and thought, Yeah us too.

My grandfather came over here years ago from Greece. He was poor when he lived there, but he heard that America was the land of opportunity. If you worked hard, you could earn a good living. He opened a restaurant. He worked hard. He never became rich by today's standards. He started at the bottom, borrowed money to start his business and eventually paid it all back with interest. Had he become rich, what I hear hotwire saying is that my grandfather should have to share that money with everyone else. He should be punished for working hard.
There was a man in our area who was a trucker. He had one semi-truck. He got more deliveries than he could do alone, so he took out another loan and purchased another semi. Then, he hired another driver, who he also had to pay his work comp, SS, and medical insurance in addition to wages. In his spare time, he went around to local businesses asking for their business. Through a lot of time working 15 hours a day, sometimes more, his trucking business mushroomed and he borrowed more money from his bank and purchased 10 more vehicles. He quit driving personally and hired drivers. He never did retire, but worked to the day he died. He had around 3,000 semis when he died. He once told me he lost about 3 or 4 semis every year.
His son worked for him from the time he was a teenager starting out washing trucks. Now, he and his mother own the company. Yes, he inherited the company, but why shouldn't he? Shouldn't his father be able to do with it as he wished, give it to his son? Should the son be punished, as hotwire seems to feel, and have to spread his wealth around to others because he inherited it?
Based on that notion, where is the incentive to work hard if you have to share it with others who don't feel the same way? If everyone felt that way, eventually no one would be working. What would be the point if you can get it for free?

I understand what Hotwire is saying takes place in Canada, but that is definately different than a flat tax. It is similar to what you hear some calling for on the news each day of the week though. Tax the rich more.
I don't have a problem with leaving kids your worldly junk when you die without being taxed. heck you paid tax on it once.
As for taxing on stuff you buy only, it would never work. You can look at cigarettes for a prime example. If you live near a northern border you have probably heard of people smuggling cigarettes across to America to avoid paying taxes on them. Same would quickly happen with most other things if this happened. In Arkansas for example if you buy a vehicle for under $2500 you don't pay a sales tax. Hmm guess what most bills of sale say?

Saw the latest Gallup Poll saying Obama's ratings had dropped to 39%. I'm thinking, who are these 39% that still think Obama's doing a favorable job? Are they blind and deaf or just stupid?

Blacks still and will always approve of him and die hard liberal's even some on these forums will never give up on him. I do think it's funny he's in iowa talking about jobs and asking for 'ideas' from anyone there on how to create more jobs for them, lol.
Last election he had all the answer's to all the problems, what happened? lol.
Rick Perry is going to rip him apart on every aspect of his presidency, going to be a fun election to watch and even more fun to see O packed up and moving back to Chicago with the rest of the thugs he's put in charge of us the past few years!
