Scott Walker's win the second time around in WI was larger than the first time. What a waste of taxpayer money!
When Walker took office WI was in debt to the tune of 3.4 billion dollars. He intended to solve the debt problem in number of ways, one of which would have all government employees contribute to their own pension plans. The government would also contribute, much like the private sector and 401K plans. Of course, a big difference being that in the private sector you can't retire after just 20 years and start drawing a pension that would be close to your last pay check.
The union employees balked at Walker's plan. The other big hang up was their health care plan. The employees would only go along with a union-affliated health care plan. This plan would cost millions of dollars more annually than the non-union one Walker wanted to use.
Since they couldn't compromise, Walker cut off all collective bargaining. The main stream media made it sound like he did this to the private sector as well, they never were clear on that. Not true.
The intelligent, sensible people of WI realized the only correct way out of debt was to stop crazy spending. Maybe Walker should have run for president.
FDR (a democrat) once said, unions belong in the private sector, but not in government.
