thought i would share a couple techniques i use for catching spring bass.
i like it when the females just move up to shallow water. the water temp is around 60-65. i take a 6" lizard usually watermelon or green pumpkin die the tail chartreuse and rig it weightless Texas style. you have to have grass for this to really work. any way i take that lizard and throw as far as i can over the grass and just slowly reel it in. them big mommas can't stand it they got to have it. lol i have caught a lot of fish like this.
another very over looked technique is using a 4" finesse worm or lizard. one of my favorite colors this time of year is red bug. bass really like red this time of year. i like the water temp to be a little colder though down in the mid to upper 50s. just about all sizes of bass will be staging waiting on the water to warm up to spawn. i rig it Texas style with a small weight like a 1/8th or 3/32 oz. i stay in 6-10ft of water and fish it slow. just like trapping look for those outstanding features on points in the mouths of coves. usually when you catch one their will be more. i also like to hit where the smaller creeks come in up in the back of the coves as long as you have good water depth.

good post offshore....folks remember that when it gets hot these fish move to the creeks and in to deep water were its cooler...heres another tip ..if its super hot in the day time then use a buzz bait or topwater lure and fish at night...my biggest two bass was caught at night using a white buzz bait one wieghed 12 lbs male and the other was a 15 lb female in aug.
good luck.....caution if gators are around becareful because they will strike a topwater lure.[
