Yea, tons of croaker, and a lot of blues too. The bigger blues are caught trolling in the ocean this time of year, later in Oct and Nov in the surf. Croakers, aka "hardheads", around here are pretty much a pest. They're great for kids though, lots of them and they bite pretty much any bait. BTW...the striper had a 15" whole bluefish in it's belly. We do eat bluefish, but not much...usually just make fish cakes out of them when we do. They make excellent crab and coon bait though because they are so oily.

Nothing wrong with bluefish or croaker, we're just trying to eat what we sent home from AK. Been using the grill on it at least once, sometimes twice a week, down to maybe 30lbs. left. The halibut holds up real well, but the salmon is too oily to keep real long. The stripers we just eat as we catch them, and give a lot away.

No, I've made fish "juice" from about everything, Now I just buy a gal. of menhaden oil for 15-18$, add 4 oz. of shellfish, and save myself some time. I don't use much anymore so I come out better this way.

No, there was a fish processing house right across of where we fished in Homer that cleaned, vacuum sealed, flash froze, and shipped back home overnite air on the date you wanted it to arrive. We went that route, although it is a little pricey. I got the bright idea of taking 100lbs. on as checked baggage, and they lost my luggage, but that's another story.

I actually got the fish to my house before it totally thawed. I called the processing house and asked them about it, they said if it wasn't completely thawed to refreeze it and it should be fine. It is. The airline delivered it to my house @ 3:30am the next day by delivery van from the airport 100 miles away. I had a few choice words and anxious moments but in the end all was well, learned a lesson though.
