a cubby set is like a miniature cave, that something has cached a kill in, the investigating critter is in hopes that there is still something left. It can be open on both ends or just one. When set along stream banks it usually is just open on the end facing the stream, on dry land it can be open on both, but I prefer it to be closed on one end, with the bait in the rear, and a little lure on the front. It can be made of rock, sticks and limbs, or just dug out back in the bank. It is made big enough for the target animal to get his whole body in, a trap or snare is placed in the entrance, so that the animal must pass over it to get to the bait.

A little more work envolved setting these up but well worth the effort. Samll cubbies from rocks for mink and larger cubbies for coon and cats. Even old fox will use them. Good luck on the cubbies
