Today I found a roadkill skunk that didn't smell too bad. I figured it was killed instantly and didn't spray. Not having a syringe or even an eye dropper, I went back with a corked glass bottle and a zip-lock bag. I was going to try to remove the glands with my pocket knife, but couldn't tell where they were so basically "milked the skunk' by it's anus. I managed to get about half a teaspoon full of yellow amber fluid. With proper tools and knowledge, I probably would have got more fluid. Can I freeze it? What should I mix it with to keep it as a lure?

All canines love the stuff. Cats will check it to. Coons like it well enough. You can mix with tainted meat or add some to castor for a good canine lure or use straight for yotes. That essence can be used for just about everything. Its one of the best long distance call lures there is. And yes you can freeze it BUT everything in freezer will smell like it. Just put in a glass bottle with a good lid. Then dip the caped tiped bottles down in some warm wax and that will seal it. But you cant contain the smell even in glass. Another point of interest Take about a pint of peanut oil and add the mixture of essence to that and shake well. This will give you about a 75 percent split. And this will get you more bang for your prize. The peanut oil will absorb the essence and it will go a long way. But store it away from anything you dont want smelling skunky. That is money in the bank my friend.

That stuff is unbeleivable! I have it wrapped in five lyers of zip lock bags, in a taped tupperware container, and in a garbage bag taped inside a five gallon bucket shut and taped. It still came through the bags and tupperware! Big mistake, i live in an apartment.

LMAO...NO ya don't wanna keep it in your house in any container..........I aint found anything yet that will totaly stop it from gettin through.
I nver freeze mine. I have gallon jars with lids that I seal it in. Either in the shed inside an old small fridge or in the ground. If ya out it in the ground make sure no dogs, or other crittters can dig it up. They will find it if they can get to it. Don't let sunshine get to it....no not Sunny, real sunshine, it will ruin it over time. Probaly build enough pressure to blow a jar lid off or at least leak badly.
