i thought i was the only one into catchin and grindin mice lol ;D
i grind quite a few it's the base for my most used bait
i caught 146 in 11 traps in three days!
to preserve ... use sodium benzoate ... about one cup per gallon
in a pinch (and only in a pinch ... dont wanna attract anything drawn to the salt content such as deer, rabbits, groundhogs etc.) ... use two cups of pickling salt per gallon (not table salt)

i like to add glycerine oil as i grind ... this does several things ... it helps ease the grinding and also adds body to the ground mice as well as act as a antifreeze
after grinding you can either stabilize immediately for a fresh mouse smell or let them taint a bit ... i like to taint mine ... then stabilize
mice taint quickly ... do so under controlled environment ... say in a warm shed not in the open direct sun or where flies can get at it ... and keep an eye and nose on it
one, ... one cup measuring cup of sodium benzoate with sufficiently "stop" and stabilize one gallon of ground mice or red meat ... it will take approximately 7+ days to take full effect ... keep covered ... not allowing flies to blow it and ruin it
once stabilized with SB , nothing other than keeping it in covered containers is necessary
you'll have to burp your containers as gas with form until the grind has calmed down completely
you can get sodium benzoate from many places ... most any trapping supply dealer sells it ... it's rather inexpensive
as far as a recipe ... something as simple as adding beaver castor and ambrette musk will kick up your ground mice ... a lil castor and skunk essence will give it a kick too
;D
