I made a Gland Lure earlyer this summer..I added a lot of coyote urine into the Gland Lure..
My question woud be, DO I STILL NEED TO USE URINE ON THE BACKING OF MY SETS...Or CAN I JUST USE THE LURE BY ITSELF ??
What would you do ?
Thanks,
Samuel

I don't mix the two. I squirt urine on the post, then I smear a DAB of gland lure on the post, The urine is down low and the gland lure I smear up towards the top of the post.

Russ Carmen makes a liquid lure that is marketed under the name of Pro-Mix, I think it is gland lure and urine mixed. His directions say squirt a half ounce down in the hole and relure after five days if no catch.......I've had good luck with it.

Sam, the #1 lure i used last year was Circle Maker, from Carmen, he also has 2 more new ones out this year. We use a lot of pro's choice, Triple X, and are going to try some Blackfoot this year. The 3x seemed to work well on Cats.

Yeah, I hear Circle Maker was a big hit. I gota try some next year. I am trying out Dobbins Gl 40 and his Perffect this year..So far it been pretty good..Only one coyote on it so far, but like i said..The pro Mix been working wonders.
Earl my biggest producer in K-9s is Plenty Coyotes..Good Stuff bro, try it out !

LOL, we don't have many yotes...thank goodness...if i had to use one lure and guarantee a catch, it would be Circle Maker.......its that good! we have used a lot of diferent lures and that is my number one choice!

I would have to say for me, it's been Red Bush for fox..Plenty Coyote and Pro Mix for the yotes..But 90 percent of the time tho, I only use Gland Lure. Earl, I hear Sent Vent is real good with Circle Maker..Do you have a lot of fox in your area ? If you do, try Red Bush by kishels...It dont really smell like anything but it knocks them dead..I would not steer you wrong my friend.

I have used a little of the Vent Scent, with no luck yet. think I'm gonna wait until a little later in the year, when they are starting to mate. the blackfoot is working fine on the greys, its what i caught the greys at the chaff set and post set that I posted pics of. The red bob-tail and others were caught on the Cicle Maker(see todays post) and u will see why it has that name...lol ;D

I have to say, Russ Carmen is one of the best lure makers in the world. That and my buddy O Gorman.

Right on, Earl. And a lot of good lure makers that get a bad rep from guys that don't know how to set location and then blame the lure!

As i just said, not for me this year. I aqm using more bait this year, because of the warmer weather....that seems to be the key for me!

Hey, everyone else here - do you catch most of your fur with bait, lure, urine or some combo? Great discussion for a newbie to follow. Don't let sam and earl have all the fun. ;D

Yeah, but Earl, are you using bait with piss..That is the question my friend. ;D And if you are. I believe the urine creates the curiosity for the fox or whatever to run over to the set. ?

|
|
Post by samuelhasguns on Dec 4, 2007 11:23:23 GMT -5
Scansy, combinations of bait, lure and urine's at one set would be, say, of more curiosity of a set that just had lure.

Its all a personal preference, or what you may be trying to imitate. if you dig a mouse hole, u may not want to give any indication that a fox has ever been there. Every situation is a little different, and not everything works everywhere!
