You could, but there are much better ways of doing it. Get friendly with a welder, and have him bubble tip the jaws, or crimp them over just a bit with a hammer. What kind of traps are they?

If I remember, the Dukes have plenty of jaw tip sticking out to bend up. Ditto the Bridgers.(don't overdo the bend in the jaw tip-go slow and check to see that the jaws move freely without binding up) The 550 shouldn't need bubble tipped, if it has a cast jaw. It should be stiff enough without bubble tipping to resist popping out.

All my Duke 1 1/2s have a bead of JB weld. Never had one pop off, and I trap in some pretty cold weather. KISS, why mess with a welder if you can mix some JB and apply it? I also baseplate with JB Weld and rivets.
I experimented with JB Weld to laminate jaws. When I snapped the trap the lams flew off, one stuck in the ceiling of my shed, lucky it didn't hit me in the face.
I use a lot of JB Weld in my shop, don't underestimate it.

Yep, same here. It doesn't work for everything, but for bubbling jaw tips it works fine.
