I usually put them around the last link of chain before the end swivel. I wrap them and then take a hog ring and clamp it around the tag and link...

I use a piece of copper wire, doubled and twisted through the tag and then wrapped around one side of the last link in the chain. Then the tag is wrapped around the chain, lettering in.

Fh's get the tag near the far end of the chain. Never had a critter chew on one that far from the trap.
Body grips, anywhere along the sides of the jaws.
I hate taggin traps btw. Worse part of trapping to me.

For my footholds, near the ring is where I attached the tag. On 330 bodygrips, I use a 10' cable and attach the tag at the end farthest from the trap. So, whatever the cable is anchored to, that's where you'll find the tag. I use cable on all my Griz traps and the tag is attached in the same spot as the 330s. I attached all my tags with a type of smaller hog ring. I've never had one come off.

I also paint mine black or brown if they're copper. That copper sticks out like a sore thumb if you don't paint it.
