How do you fasten your conibears, mainly the beaver , and otter. do you use wire or cable, swiveled or not?

I also use cable with a swivel at the trap, these are set up on the belisles, so there is ot gonna be too much struggle anyway. I have a small dog snap on the fastening end which I loop around whatever I'm tying to and just hook it back in the cable, very fast and secure.

I like the chain with a swivel at the point of stake for beaver. If using the belize i will use cable they just dont fight. LOL When the belize hits them they are done. Or at least not going any where. I had one by both front feet last yr in a belize and he was fighting for all he was worth and the cable held him great.

The reason I like the cable is because 8'-10" of cable has very little weight. In our rocks it is sometimes hard enough to stabilize the traps, much finding something to tie off 2.

I trap with Belisiles also. When I get them . (Or ,now when I working on the older ones that I have ) I put a Sleepy Creek Spring Eye Swivel. With 18" of 1/8" 7x7 Then even put a #11 snare swivel on the end also. When I fasten the trap at a set.I use as many 3/32" x 72" 7x7 extension cables as I nead.On my extension cables. I have put Stainless Steel Long Line snaps ,on one end and a loop on the other.

Nah, not surprised, i use rebar sometimes to stablize, or tie off too. the r spikes are a little short for my applications.

If you drive those spikes under the ground with a piece of rerod they act just like a disposable earth anchor.

Had a new Belisle, been set for 6 days, had caught 2 rats, 1 otter, 1 beaver, and I think the last beaver in the colony today. the 3/16 cable was double wrapped around a tree and fastened back to the cable. The tree is still standing, the dam hasn't been fixed, tracks that aren't mine going down the bank...hope the sob gets his willy caught in it.

on my 330s I use an old snare that has been kinked, take the looped end pass through a spring pass the other end of the snare the one with the lock through the loop and you done. the lock goes over a stake in deep water.
