Who uses bottom swivels and who uses side? And is one better than others for K9's?

For foxes, i haven't found a major difference, except in the fact that maybe it causes less sliding of the foot by having it center swiveled. But for yotes I like em baseplated and center swiveled, I think it gives the trap more strength.

Anything that's going to jump, hop, and diddybop on land,( yote, fox, cat, ridgerunning coon), I center swivel. Coon in the water, I don't think it matters as much. They move a lot, but they don't seem to lunge as much, as hard, or as fast. A dryland coon set gets a center swiveled trap, just in case I run into another animal. I think all but my traps but my 1 1/2 duke coon traps are center swiveled, and I don't use them on land. JMHO

center swiveling longsprings can give u as much as a 10" advantage in the amount of water it takes to drown an animal.

Earl is right, and if you don't want to, or can't weld your center swivels on your longsprings, use the posi-trip crimp on center locaters. All it takes for them is a stout pair of vice grips.
