I seem to be getting more misses/pullouts than I remember in years past on my coon line I thinking that my springs seem weak and will be replacing a bunch of them for next year I didn't wax the traps either just dyed and I wonder if this is slowing them down quite a bit?

It does slow them down some, but i never wax mine either. Are u putting too much dirt over the trap, is freezing and thawing playing any part, are the pans set below the jaw level, are they bedded firmly?? Any of these things could be playing a part in it.......What size traps are u using?

1.5 s various makes water sets no or little coverings and bedded into the cottom where possible some of the sand/ rocks make it difficult.

Well in water sets, I don't think the wax makes that much difference, the water acts as a lubricant itself. I know what u mean about getting a solid bed in the rocks. It could just be u are having bad luck.......or those shadows that wighed 10lbs are setting the traps off before the coon get there ;D
