mountain curs are good to they seem to pick it up real easy and are very smart.
the best squirrel dog i ever had was a rat terrier he was a jam up dog. absolutely hated squirrels. i've got a female jack russel now that is still a pup but she is the same way it just aggravates the heck out of her to see one run across the yard.

Well, I'd have to go with the Mountain cur. I have always hunted Kemmer stock Mt. Curs, they hunt close to medium. I like a dog that listens, when I'm ready to go, the dogs always are waiting for me at the truck. The curs I've had was always looking up in the trees when squirrel hunting, and made one of the finest coon dogs a person could want. Why not get a dog that can be used for severl things. By the way they are very protecting of the family and the property.

I'm afraid your cat wouldn't have lasted long around my coon hounds. They would not take a house cats track but if the cat was in sight it was history if they could get it before it got to ground or treed. They had no problem dispatching 35lb coons so a house cat was just practice.

ladners black mouth cur. very inteligent , loyal, great with kids, and they hate squirrels and coons. they can be trained to hunt any type of animal. people use them for squirrels, coons , bobcats, mountian lions, bear, hogs, etc. and they make a good blood trailing dog. www.pixelrunway.com/ladner_blackmouth_curs.pdf
