Here you can use either a bow or shotgun, the trick to shooting a gobbler with a bow is when he is in range and at FULL STRUT when he turns his back to you, you draw your bow and place your sites on the spot where his tail feathers comes down to, that's the kill zone on a turkey with at bow, if you really good and in a blind, you can take a broadside shot at one and shoot it in the chest area, you will need to track a turkey that has been shot with a bow. I always used a arrow tracker, its a string that ties to the arrow and is in a container on the bow to make it easier to track them yard birds. If you try it, get out and do a lot of practicing with the bow. and good luck it's not as easy as shooting one with a gun

Its got to be hard to get one with a bow they are so jumpy and quick to duck and run. Vitals are smaller area then on a deer too. I saw some broadheads in a catalog for turkeys that have like a 2 inch spread or soemthing like that I'll try to find it later those should really take a bird doen fast. Might be trying it this spring.

found my bow hunting catalog queenie Keystone Country stores Bowhunting 1-877-999 9898. I haven't ordered from them but they have a lot of stuff in the catalog. The turkey broadheads are the Gobbler guillotine 2.5 or 4 inch diameter and the sledgehammer turkey tom-o-hawk with a 3.5 inch diameter Can't imagine a turkey going far with one of those ran thru him.

one of the keys to sucessfully kill a turkey with a bow is understanding where the vitals are!! The effective range of a really good bowhunter is as much as a shotgun!! Learn the kill zones and have at it ;D

that's one place. There are 2 others; one is dead on in his chest, about 3 inches below his neck. The other is a broadside shot. The problem is that a turkeys vitals are further back than what u would think and a little lower. A good ground blind is a good way to kill a turkey, think pop-up blind!!

A turkeys vitals are the size of your fist.....The butt of the wing is one shot , not the chest unless you hit right where the beard protrudes out....Another is the spot you see when he struts away from you....Ya know. His little tail thing.....Any other hit in the body region will likely result in a lost bird.....There may be exceptions....A head shot is a sure way to bag em....If you can hit it!

Our turkey season is for every weapon including bow. I have shot them with a bow, but you need to be careful when you shoot them, if they are on a hill where they can get air born they will lock their wings and its almost impossible to find them after that.

our season is bow, sg, or ml.
Actually if you know turkey habits, vitals, and can shoot. It is fairly easy to kill one with the bow out of a blind. WTA

Helo All Hey 3 years ago this season I told my self I would like to do something other then the same ol shot gun technique so I have killed a few with the Muzzel loader Bird shot and so now it was the Bows turn lol . So my plan was to Video Tape it as well as everything else that goes along with hunting the featherd friends . so I got to my Blind by 6 Am opening morning and waited tell I heard some Birds make some noise . so I had heard a Gobbel about 1/4 mile away witch that morning i think you coul;d of heard a pin drop in the hay stack . so I tryed calling to see if I could hear a reply and I did so I tryed working it and it kept moving away so I kept queit for a bit untell I heard a Gobbel again and struck the slate once again and he gobbled again but wasn't coming so again I just sat ther and soon a hen came to the open field I was parked in so it hung around for a few and took off . I waited for about an Hour and I heard one Gobble on the nabors property so I gave a shout out to my Tom and he Gave me a (I'M coming ) lol so I stayed in my brush blind I re do every year and seems to take a bird most years . so I could hear him just behind me spitting & Drumming and I seen why he was ther waiting on this hen coming up the trail . so the hen came on to the field and the TOM just stayed ther spitting & Drumming so I peeped with a mouth call to try to make the hen move away and it worked the Tom crossed 10 yards in front of me and I drew the bow back at 55 pounds and the 100 Gr Thunderhead Broadhead Hit the mark and the bird took off with the arrow passed through and I watched the bird fly away and land in this other field and I grabbed the camera and went to the house and watched the Video I just made and replayed it like 5 times and an hour went by and I walked up to the Big Tom and I knew he was Mine . So that's how my hunt went hope I kept your Attention lol
