OK I got a new bow and I am using a release and a peep sight for the first time and I keep whapping my left forearm on the dang string IT HURTS this sucks I never used to have this problem I think without the peep sight that I canted the bow a little on my old compound and on the recurve. I don't know i might have to get an armguard

Unless the bow is too long for you , it shouldn't be hitting your arm upon release. I presume you are right handed, if so you need to hold the bow with your left wrist turned in towards the bow, don't let it turn back to the left. Keep your left arm relaxed and loose, it should not e perfectly straight. Your hand should not be gripped tight on the bow handle, upon release it should tip towards the ground, (reason I always wear a wrist sling). Hope this helps, pm me if I can help further.

Muddy don't know if you fixed the problem yet. However it sounds like you're locking your elbow when you shoot . Also check to make sure the bow is the right draw-length for you now that you've switched to a release. If it's too long that would cause you to lock your elbow to compensate for the longer draw-length.
Or you might just need to get an arm guard.

Mudtracker, I had the same problem when I was using a string loop for my release. It doesn't seem like much, but that extra 1/4 inch would get me everytime. I finally went back to the simple string nock and glove and it stopped. I also had some problems when I got to my first compound, I have always used a recurve and with the compound my grip changed a little.
