Sorry if this is the wrong place. things seem to be seen quicker here.
What do you guys use as a trappers cap for the 1.5 bridgers? I set some today for coons. There are fox in the area so i just made dirt holes because of the fox. The traps were set on a hair trigger but i'm still worried about the dirt that got down under the pans. I looked but didn't see anything advertised for the 1.5 bridgers.

craig i don't know how cold it is there but you can wade up a little grass and take a small stick and push it under the pan very carefully and then no dirt will get under there and the grass will stil let the trap go off to catch your critter's.hope this helps ,it works for me because i don't use pan covers.everytime i do it seems they dig it up or pull out because it makes my traps fire to slowly.just the way i do it..

Toilet paper! Good ol' TP will do the job...forgot my pan covers at the house the other day and just used TP from the truck...worked fine!

they may not make them yet for that trap........I would call your dealer and ask them.....I am sure one made for a different trap would work......a good dealer will know.
other waise...find a can the right siz and use it........I used a tuna can for some of my traps for eyars.......now I use pan covers or several differnt types of stuff to push under the pan. Cattail duff works well and is for the most part water proof too.

Funny you ask - I just put in my 1.5 bridgers - they're the new style (or so I'm told) bridger. I bought a cap that was supposed to be set up for a 1.5 bridger and when I made my first set..... it didn't work.
The cap will fit the pan - but the dog is wider than the slot on the cap I have. Maybe it was set up for the older bridgers. Tonight, I'm gonna file the slot wider so it will work tomorrow.

I have been using the screen pan covers, just be sure and keep them lure and scent free.....if u think they may be contaminated, put em in a little boiling water with a touch of dye. I keep mine in a gallon zip lock bag.

This is how I made all of my trapper's caps.
I always went to a local muffler shop, and they always had peices of tail pipe laying around of different sizes. I would match up the pipe to the size of the trap pan. Heck for a couple of bucks they could bend it into differnt shapes and weld a handle on it for me, as well as cut the notch for the dog. Most of the real short peices they throw in the trash anyway, so they're happy to amke a couple of dollars.

I use a lot of wax paper, moidture doesn't bother it as bad either, just be sure and crinkle it up real good before u use it as it will make noise if you don't!
