Me and lil-man have been calling for a while now and I was wanting to see what you guys and gals use the most. We started with electric calls and had pretty good luck. Then when we got the nerve and know how, we started playing with mouth calls. I've noticed a big difference in the amount of response we get from the hand calls verses the electric. Seems the critters come in faster and more offten.
Tell us your thoughts and experiences.

I don't have any calls myself, but have gone out maybe 10 times over the past three or four years with a friend. He hunts fox/yotes pretty regular around central PA and uses all electronic calls. Seems to work OK for him - we always manage to bring in a couple any night we're out. Sometimes they will hang up, sometimes the come flying right in. Sometimes, I miss and easy shot.

What's nice about hand calls is I feel they reach out further and carry in all directions, where as an electronic throws it's sound in the direction the speaker is facing.Go out and wail on a hand call and listen to the echo thats in all directions, you don't get that with an electronic.

the biggest advantage that electronic calls have over mouth calls is the ability to place the speaker away from the place where u are set up. Mouth calls are more realistic, however! JMHO

Well, I won't bother with one of those blasted battery operated rigs again. Only tryed it twice, and that was enough. It is true, the sound just won't carry or penatrate heavy air satisfactorly. Theres more to go wrong with an electric caller too, and that would really suck when you outdoors and it fails you. Some days that I call, are just two cold for an electic caller, and can really be hard on them. It all seems a bit to artificial to me as well. I'm a mouth caller all the way, it works and I have more contol and options.
