Who has used this for a main predator call or even a change up??? What do you think of it's effectiveness in your area?

It's one of the most effective calls for coyotes that I use. I use a wood pecker at least 50% of the time when I'm using an electronic call
If I'm in a cat-ty looking area you can be sure thats what I'll be using.

I always thought a W-P in distress was a great call...primary, or change up.......guess some must not have had much success with it, or lacked the confidence in it ;D

I never thought a wood pecker in distress call would fly in this country, till I met some pro callers in Glendive at a coyote hunting competition. They said when they hit an area where others have tryed to call, they just whip out that call and it saves thier butt in many cases. Havn't used mine much up here yet, but I hope it is a great change up this year.

HWD I used it all the time for calling on my Burnham Brothers caller and have stacked up a lot of dogs with it, I recorded it for a buddy of mine and he used it more then I did, he said it was his main call. When I was hunting in Montana one year I tried it and called in 5 coyotes at one time with that call.

I have had good luck with the Yellowhammer in distress. Probably my best sound.
