This time of year I always make sure I have some things in my car just in case.
Clothes-- boots, stocking cap, mittens, coveralls, coat
Shovel
flashlight
cellphone
jumpercables
tire iron and INFLATED spare- you would not beleive the number of flat spare tires I saw when I was in the tow truck business
I don't really bother with water and food I figure there is always snow and I carry a built in emergency food supply If you know what I mean
tow strap much better than a chain IMO
Extra fluids for car
There is probally more stuff but thats what comes to mind.

good things to remember to have. Even if you aren't 10 miles from home, dry clothes can come in very handy, esp. if you are prone to fall in beaver ponds. ;D

some sort of flashin light is always good to have also......attracts alot of attention.
real important....have a full tank of gas if at all possible!!!!!!!! and stay with/in the vehicle for as long as possible. Keep the exhaust pipes open........if ya smell anything out of the norm...........or feel ya are gettin real sleepy............get out for a few minutes to get fresh air......if ya feel dizzy or sick when ya get out....ya are possibly being gassed with carbon monoxide.......stay AWAKE!!!!!!!!! and keep moving around as much as possible. this will help get the gas out of your system as well as anything ya can at that time. Take deep breaths...away from the vehicle............ and let them out with pressure......whistle.......this also forces your lungs/diaphram to push the bad air out. All this also helps to fight hypothermia. Both are killers........don't let them get ya.

PB...that is for "sucking chest wounds" only. Any other bleeding wound ya want to stop the bleeding entirely if ya can. As for useing as an emergency cast it would work if used right.
