This is a set i like to use on the rocky bluffs and as this pic show trails that run the middle length of rock hills. It is a blind set for yotes and cats. The second pic shows where i have decided on a location for the set up. And a RR spike will be used to stake the trap. The sun was going down so they may be a little dark. The 3rd pic shows where the RR spike has been placed in a crack and is holding tight. Now the 4th pic show the trap bedded and the spike is set. Now being this is done on hard rock i bed the trap with the most turned upside down. The last pic shows the trap set and covered with the crushed dry leaves and hickory nut shells pounded in to particles. Then some moss is spread around to further camo set. Now there is no other way to stake a trap here. You can use a drag. Or nail or wire to a tree. But for me the RR spikes are the answer. Thanks for looking. Maybe someone can use this as a start to hard rock trapping. Thanks DH

nice thought dh...i use a wire to the nearest tree..the only problem is sometimes thats over 10 ft and they get tangled up..either gets fur damage or a pull out...never thought of rr spikes and i have hundreds around here,lol..thanks for the info..i'll give her a shot next time i'm in the bluffs...

I've picked a few spikes up. I understand they are made of very good steel and make great knifes.
