Here is one of my variations of a chaff set. Basically it is just a bunch of cornstalks and shucks, piled up about 3 ft long and 2 feet high. There is lure placed in the pile in front of a flat set on one side, and on the other side there is a small hole the size of a rerod stake with a little lure in it. I use gland lure on the flat set side and some food lure on the mouse hole. the first pic is the flat set with the pan where the dirt is showing, and on the other side it is placed just like a dirt hole. the chaff pile is a visual attractant, and is a change up set for me. ,

This set also works real well in a cut soybean field....any piles of chaff usually contain grain, which in turn attracts rodents, and we all know the K-9's know that too!

Yes and no, on one side of the pile it is a flat set, on the other side, i have a small mouse hole, the lure is placed in the hole and in the middle of the pile. there is also a little bait on the side where the flat set is. the pile is an attractant in itself, the bait and lure just cause for a little more investigation.

a properly placed trap will catch him when he is there, if it is in the right location, you don't have to have large numbers!

thats a good set earl. i've done some trash pile variations of that over the years with good success. another tip to this set is make sure that when you pile up the chaf, that it's clean of cockle burrs, sand burrs, fox tail, stick tights and all that stuff, cause what ever you catch is gonna be full of it. had to learn the hard way on that. LMAO
