This is a set that i like to place in side timbered areas. These spots produce yotes, cats, and fox. The first thing is to find a spot where you know there travel ways by finding sign that they leave behind. The first picture is where there is alot of sign on and old cattle trail.
The second picture is the place along the trail that i have picked to set the trap. The vines are a natural funnel to pull the animals to the trap. Note how they have grown into a v shape.
Now is to position your dirt hole at the center of the v formed by the roots of the vines. Then take a steel rod and make a hole in the spot then woller it out good and smooth.
Then take your trap and place it in front of the hole and look at the position of the trap in relation to were you know or think the animals will be coming to the set.
Once you have your position set in your mind remove the trap and cut out your bedding for the trap to be placed in. Making sure that the trap sets perfectly flat and with out any wobble.
Once you have the trap bedded and staked in then comes the sifting of the dirt over the trap. Making sure the pan has clear travel without dirt under the pan. Then blend the trap in to the surroundings. using dry leaves dirt and small pieces of debrie. Never use anything that would hinder the jaws closing on the trap and thus avoiding a miss.
Then i will use some old dry white bones as a backing for the hole and as a visual atractent. Then i will apply the bait or lure to the hole. Some gland lure set about 10 or 15 ft either side of trap will get them close enough to find the hole.
This next picture is the finished set along the trail with the visual attracters in place
I hope this has help some of you guys
