depends on my location.if no water is around for miles .my best lure for greys are miranda's jim river beaver lure and dobbins back breaker on the leaning post....any lure with fish oil works on greys also.if water is around i use hawbakers wily red special 500 and red and grey fox 200.

Lennons again for lure.....I really like his stuff.
For bait, fishy stuff, cat meat mixed in Dobbin's bait solution, fresh or slightly tainted deer scarps, rabbit scraps, and pork. I usually don't mix or use a lure with bait except for urine. I will almost always squirt some urine or mist the set with urine at every set. On more bait early is snake. Just a 2-3 inch piece of tainted snake wil catch them.
ADC summer time greys I use grasshoppers ground up. It works. A little bitty squirt of skunk really helps it too.

A good fresh shot of bobcat urine has always worked very well for me. Hawbakers Widow Maker works well also.

I always had good luck with Hawbakers 500. I always use red fox pee and don't bother with collecting the grey pee!

Matt Jones has a new gray fox gland based lure that I've heard good things about. Might be a good change-up. May give a bottle of it a try this fall.

I didn't catch any greys Earl. Only reds and coyotes. I'm only a k-9 trapper. And I only target coyotes. But I never seen a k-9 pass up his or her own urine. Thats why I say use pee pee and more pee. gee
Everyone thinks lure is whats calling the animals in. But in realty, they are come to check out the pee. Unless your using gland lure(which is very affective). Your just wasting your money.
I didnt have must time to trap this year. Mostly because I am on here 24/7

Well Sam I totally disagree with you on that one. to give you an example.....place a deer carcass in the yard and then take some dog pee and spray it on a bush 20 yards away. Make sure your dog is hungry and then turn him loose an equidstance from both of the smells and then see where he goes first......carcass wins every time.

Earl. I never said anything about bait. I agree with you for the most part brother. I use gland lure and bait 90 percent of the time.

Evidentally you've never looked at the tracks in the snow. Many times the fox will investigate the dirt holes from a distance of 10 feet or less and not work the set. Bait will help when they are hungry, but in the early season, sometimes it takes a little something special to get them to work the set. thats when a properly placed lure will shine.

Or a few drops of Stef's Cachottier call, or Stef's XLDC call. (just a little-don't overdo it!) Especially, when the weather gets cold and nasty-wet.

I have been using Catchottier (the same bottle) for thee years now ! I love the stuff I only use it in freezing temps tho. Never tried it in warm weather, and probably wont.

Me neither. I only use a couple drops from a dropper in cooler weather, unless it's super-wet and rainy. You ever try any of Stef's XLDC? Whoooooeeeeeeeeeeeee. Strong stuff.

I used XLDC only a few times. I didn't care for it much. Might as well buy pure skunk lol. Stef makes some outstanding lures.
